The Jazz & Soul Safari returns for its tenth edition in September.

The music fete comes with a new flavour as Uganda Breweries Limited has announced that Johnnie Walker  will be the title sponsor of the soul music celebration.

“I am proud to announce that Johnnie Walker will be the title sponsor of this year’s Jazz & Soul Safari,” said UBL Head of Whisky Portfolio, Ms. Annette Nakiyaga. “Johnnie Walker is a brand that represents continuity and success, which is what the Jazz & Soul Safari stands for. It has been the pick of events on the entertainment calendar for the nine years of its existence, in much the same way that Johnnie Walker has stood out as the whisky of choice over the ages.”

The Jazz & Soul Safari founder Tshaka Mayanja concurred that there could not have been a better suitor for the country’s premier jazz event than Johnnie Walker: “This year is our 10th Anniversary Edition. From this year, we plan to steer the event into new horizons. Rebirth. Renewal. Renaissance. Johnnie Walker is the perfect partner as the brand is in line with our virtues which are: consistency, longevity, class and pedigree.”

The annual jazz event was started by musicians Mayanja and Elijah Kitaka, who had a passion to introduce jazz music to Uganda. Inspired by radio jazz segments and small gatherings, it transformed into nine international standard concerts that showcased the intricate craft that is jazz.

This year’s edition will take place on Saturday, September 2 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
