Jay Z and John Meneilly have worked closely for over a decade,with Meneilly serving as something of a manager for the rapper, though Jay was apparently always reluctant to refer to him as such. The two have reportedly parted ways, and sources conflicted on whether the split was amicable.
One industry insider says that Meneilly’s departure “wasn’t his choice,” while another says the decision was “mutual” and was made “a couple of months ago”.
Meneilly is said to have been instrumental in many of Jay’s business deals, including the Rocawear clothing line, which was sold in 2007 for $200 million, and of course, the rapper’s recent deal with Samsung.
So far neither party has commented on the alleged split.
