The 2016 January transfer window has kicked off in high gear in the top flight. Azam Uganda Premier League leaders and 10-time league champions KCCA FC set the pace when they unveiled the signing of league top scorer Ceasar Samson Okhuti from league rivals Express FC last week on Friday.
Okhuti leads the top scorers log with a tally of 8 goals after the first half of the season and is therefore a remarkable signing for the Kasasiro Boys who seek to sharpen their striking line that hasn’t been the best at nicking goals.
With midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba being the Yellow Boy’s top scorer together with summer recruit and striker Nelson Senkatuka at a tally of four goals each after 15 games, they surely needed a striker to fetch them more goals if they are to go ahead and win the league title in May.
Away from KCCA, fifth placed SC Villa was also quick to join the transfer wagon as they signed midfielder Mike Sserumaga.
Sserumaga has lately had his attention divided hence missing a lot of league action as he attended to his academy in Kireka not forgetting his past history of being sacked from SC Victoria University and the national team, the Uganda Cranes during coach Bobby Williamson’s spell. However coach Kirya thinks he can get the best out him.
The Jogoos have also reunited with their last season number one custodian, Nicholas Ssebwato from Tanzanian based side Costal Union. Ssebwato was among the many that the Blues had let go of during the summer despite guiding them to their 9th Uganda Cup title.
But with Ibrahim Kirya fully back as head coach following the sacking of Spanish villain Antonio Flores, more business is still expected at Villa Park.
Striker Mike Ndera has also been recalled back from loan at Jinja based side Bul FC after managing three goals to his name in the first half of the season.
