James Propa Shines at Spotify, Elevating Ugandan Talent

Renowned Ugandan digital content guru, James Propa, also known as Kaliisa James, has once again brought international recognition to Uganda.

After securing a significant role in Spotify’s Gospel Genre division in 2022, James Propa was recently honored at the prestigious “Spoti Fest” event for being Passionate, Thoughtful, and Receptive.

This achievement comes just a month after he organized Uganda’s first-ever “Spotify For Artists” Masterclass, which took place at Motiv in Kampala in August 2024.

The event was attended by prominent figures in Uganda’s creative industry and provided valuable insights into how artists can collaborate with Spotify.

The Masterclass covered essential topics such as Spotify monetization, tools and features like Canvas, playlist submission, and Soundtrap.

The goal was to equip artists with the knowledge and best practices to grow their audience on the platform.

James Propa, a key figure in Uganda’s music scene, has over ten years of experience in areas such as A&R, publishing, distribution, curation, and licensing.

His career has seen him work with mobile telecom companies, online platforms, independent record labels, artists, and music publishers.

In addition, he has been a featured speaker at prominent forums on digital music in Uganda.

Born and raised in Busabala, James Propa is an experienced digital music account manager and playlist curator.

He has made significant contributions to the broadcast and online media industries.

Besides his work in music, he is also passionate about environmental conservation and has integrated this focus into charity work through media and creative arts.

With a diverse skill set that includes news writing, computer science, and media relations, James Propa continues to be a driving force in Uganda’s creative and digital content industries, setting a high bar for others to follow on both the local and international stages.
