Who needs a public holiday on a weekday when we can have one on a weekend with an international artiste gracing it? The news of International Women’s Day being on a Saturday should be welcomed by the fact that we shall have dancehall sensation Nyanda of the “Slippery When Wet” fame headline the Women’s Day celebrations at Garden City Rooftop on 8th March.
You must remember that Nyanda isn’t coming for the first time as she and her sister Nailah who make up the Brick and Lace duo came to Uganda way back in 2008 on the back of their hit single “Love Is Wicked”. Nyanda who is pursuing a solo career made her comeback from a self imposed music sabbatical last year with the chart-buster “Slippery When Wet” and promises her Ugandan legion of fans a spectacular show.
The event has been organized by Talent Africa but will also double as a platform to launch a global family planning and gender equality campaign dubbed “It Takes Two”. The Women’s Day Concert will bring together artistes like Cindy, Lllian Mbabazi and other female artistes from Uganda.
