Jamaica condemned the Uganda She Cranes to a 59-47 defeat in the Pool E qualification game played at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australian on Thursday morning to end their dreams of reaching the semi-finals of the 2015 Netball World Cup.
Ranked number four, Jamaica won three quarters out of four to prove their strength over Uganda who are ranked 14th in the World Netball rankings.
Jamaica won the first quarter 16-12 before the She Cranes forced them to 15-12 defeat in the second. At half time, the Sunshine Girls led Uganda by one goal where the total score was 28-27.
The worst went to the west in the third quarter when Jamaica pounced Uganda to a 16-8 defeat to expand their lead margin to 9 goals as the scores stood 44-35 at the expense of the She Cranes.
During the course of the game, it was evident that Uganda’s shooting lethal weapon and team skipper, Peace Proscovia struggled for form as Goal Attacker, Rachael Nanyonga rose to the best of her abilities, scoring most of Uganda’s goals. At some point in the game she had a 100% shooting accuracy when she netted 18 out 18.
In the fourth and final quarter of the game, Jamaica gave no room for Uganda to make any sensational come backs as they beat them 15-12.
59-47 was the final score with the Sunshine girls hitting a 92% shooting accuracy rate (scoring 59/64) while the She Cranes only managed 81% (scoring 47/58 attempts).
Uganda will play for pride in their last Pool E fixture against New Zealand tomorrow morning (@11:20am).
Meanwhile, Uganda is the only country not among the top ranked 8 that made it to the last eight.
