While advising young people at his home in Muyenga on lessons to take from his failed marriage, Jacob Oulanya, Uganda’s deputy speaker said; “Take time, choose wisely. Study the family background and talk to people. These things of falling in love at first sight don’t work. The wedding ring is the smallest handcuff, choose your prison mate properly.”
These were words from a man who’d unlearned his biases and Disney land fairy tales. “Use my failed marriage as a learning lesson and building block for your future marriages. Don’t make the same mistakes as I did. I hope you learn from this and have long-lasting marriages. If I had to do it again, I would do it differently,” he said.
