Uganda’s iconic ex-midfielder Jackson Mayanja has penned a two-year deal with Tanzania Vodacom Premier League side Coastal Union as their new head coach.
Mayanja’s experience in East African football is solid having guided Kagera FC to finish 7th on the Tanzania Vodacom Premier League summit with 32points last season.
He now joins former champions (winners of the 1998 league title) Coastal Union who finished 6th on the table with just two points better than his now former club Kagera FC.
Mayanja has also taken charge of several clubs in Uganda including Bunamwaya now known as Vipers, URA FC, KCC FC and Kiyovu in Rwanda.
The ex-international also served as assistant coach to Bobby Williamson during his spell as the Uganda Cranes head coach before Bobby left to join Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia and now at the helm of the Harambe Stars (Kenya’s National Football team).
