Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya has reportedly renewed his contract with South Africa football giants Kaizer Chiefs which will keep him at Amakhosi for the next three years.
According to Soccerladuma.co.za, “Bukenya, whose contract was due to expire at the end of June, is believed to have extended his stay at Naturena by signing a long-term deal that will keep him there until around 2018”.
Although the club has not yet come out to confirm the contract extension, Bukenya has been training with the club and is set to travel to Potchefstroom with the rest of the team for pre-season suggesting that the two parties have already reach a mutual understanding.
The 23-year old defender initially signed a two-year contract with Kaizer Chiefs following his move in 2013 to South Africa. His physical appearance combined with the ability to play as a defender or defensive midfielder is why the Chiefs may have chosen to keep him.
