It is a debate that will make Hip Hop savvy folks spit a few bars and pluck off each other’s feathers. A debate that will leave a bad taste and requires a battle or a cypher of sort to settle it. Well, Ruyonga has always been (and will always be) one of the finest rappers that has ever graced the game in Uganda. Have you listened to 1Hunid? No? I have.
It is awfully good. Awfully in a positive way. Whom does he feature? Tucker HD. Now, that’s an A-list track. If it was a geographical locale, it would be an ISIS ravaged area because it is war albeit, a musical war. I have always ranked Tucker HD highly and I have always said, perhaps, the young lad is the most underrated rapper around. He could be. Because he doesn’t get the buzz and attention a true talent like him deserves. But heck, Uganda is a country who pays less attention to young talents.
Another rapper on the track is Lyyriczz. Like his name, he oozes lyrics. Actually, you won’t get what he is jabbering about because he is speedy. He is a Twista of sort. But still, Ruyonga’s opening verses, if you have a keen ear, will have you in their grip. There is the way he takes on the song, gently, delicately. He doesn’t rush it. He treats the beat gentlemanly, and when he picks up, he stabs it in the neck and kills it. Tucker HD was his usual Tucker, rapping in HD. I love his final lines. If I can get a chance of dining with his mind and taking a tipple, I would kill for it. He is massively talented. 1Hunid is a good track and has been making rounds on different urban radio stations. It has been received well. If Ruyonga is not the best rapper in Uganda, then squeeze there yours and defend them like I do Ruyonga. Good track!
