Personally, I am a fan of versatility and I like it when artistes step out of their comfort zone and try out something new. In the event of branching out, a new identity and sound could spring out and BOOM you could either nail the song or ruin it. It’s a very risky venture.
And when I heard that Iryn Namubiru had hit studio with new kid on the block Khalifa Aganaga, I couldn’t wait for the final product.
So I plugged in my earphones and had a listen and everything was good until Iryn’s voice came through. On an afro dance hall beat, Khalifa Aganaga was always going to outdo the songbird considering that dancehall is not Iryn’s forte. She has curved out a career in doing those lovey-dovey songs so listening to her dropping Jamaican tinged lyrics was unusual and somewhat painful. Iryn ruins a rather good song as she didn’t hold her own and sounded lost.
The beat mixed and mastered from Monster Studios by fast rising producer Nash Wonder is a commanding one. The kind to make you make a fool of yourself on the floor and Khalifa goes on to tell people how they are,” better dan dem”.He does well but listening to him sing in English can make you cringe. Iryn on the other hand tries her best but I think she should stick to ballads.
The song to me is just slightly above average. RATING:3/5
