Swangz Avenue songstress Irene Ntale and Tonix thrilled hundreds of revelers that thronged Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo for the second edition of “Roast and Rhyme” on Sunday.
Dubbed “Soul on Strings” edition, revelers were treated to live performances as the different acts of the day took to the stage. Tonix who stepped on stage after 6pm stepped up the mood at the event and had the crowd inching closer to the stage. And when he performed his hit single “Itaano”, the already excited crowd got on their feet and danced with him“ekitaguuro”, a traditional Ankole dance.
The mood was no different when Irene Ntale later stepped on stage. The ecstatic crowd danced and sang along as she entertained them with her songs that included “Sembera”, “Langi Mpya”, “Olindaba”, “Nkubukinze”, and “Gwe Aliko” among others.
Meanwhile, revelers also indulged their taste buds as there was an abundance of nyama choma and drinks to wash it down while they enjoyed the soothing music and a cool breeze accorded by the lake. The kids were not left out in the fun of the day as a playing area filled with bouncing castles was set up for them.
“Roast and Rhyme”, a brain child of Swangz Avenue, is a family event that happens quarterly.
