A body of priests and pastors from five religious denominations who are trained and ordained for religious service in Uganda have paid tribute to the victims of the terror attack that left 62 dead people and at least 175 injured at Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya that happened last weekend.
The Somali based group of the Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack as retaliation for Kenya’s pursuit of the militants in Somalia.
At a press conference in Kampala on Wednesday, the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda expressed how they were unhappy about the attack.
“We express our heartfelt condolence to families that lost loved ones in the recent terrorist attack on Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya,” the IRCU Chairperson and head of the Orthodox Church, Archbishop Yona Lwanga said in a joint statement. He continued to say, “we wish those who sustained injuries quick recovery.”
In attendance was Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, Messenger John Baptist Kauta, Pr. Dr. John Kakembo the secretary of Uganda Episcopal Conference and the Archbishop of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Uganda.
