BigEyeUg‘s Seguya Musa caught up with dancehall sensation A Pass for a quick chat. Here are the excerpts:
Which are your best songs in Uganda at the moment?
I don’t have any top five songs in Uganda at the moment and even if I had them, I would say my songs. I think there is no music at the moment. I have not heard of any blockbuster song. Ugandans haven’t done anything outstanding lately and not only in Uganda, even outside Uganda.
What is your favorite song among those you have written for other musicians?
African Girl for Bebe Cool, it is not yet out but I think that is my best song I have ever given out. I sold it expensively though I won’t say the amount, I sold it at a fee I didn’t expect to ever sell a song in my life, so watch out for that song.
There were reports recently indicating that you beg Bebe Cool to sing the songs you have written. What is your relationship with Bebe Cool ?
He is my friend, and actually I wouldn’t beg Bebe Cool to sing my songs because they are not mine when I sell them to him, though I still have the rights as a writer but that does not take away their power to sing the song. I can’t, that is impossible. I think it is just newspapers.
When will you stage a show?
Probably this year after the release of the Nva Kampala Album on May 13th and I think it is going to be something of a revolution, something different and new, the most different album in the whole of Africa.
When are you unveiling your woman to the world?
I am actually not interested in ladies, I would rather stay single at the moment of my career. I don’t want to play around, ladies corrupt minds. I don’t want mine to be corrupted at the moment. I want to chill, though I have many people I like.
Who are your top five most beautiful Ugandan women?
There is a lady called Hildah, she is a beautiful lady, Fabiolah is beautiful, Flavia too and at Galaxy FM there is a lady called Asimwe Prim, she is a very beautiful lady and also the former Miss Uganda wife to Aly Allibhai. There are so many beautiful ladies, I can’t name them all.
How did Flavia Tumusiime take it when you expressed your love for her via social media?
I really didn’t express my love to her. I gave her as an example and I didn’t get a kiss from her. I really didn’t want it, it was just a song.
Would you consider dating her if you had the chance?
I wouldn’t consider dating her. I don’t think we would vibe, we have different personalities and we can’t connect but she is a lovely person.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I don’t see myself anywhere. I don’t want to achieve anything in the next five years, I don’t think of the future I focus on the present. I don’t plan, I just improvise.
Who are your best five songwriters?
There are so many people that I know who write good music like Ray Signature is a very good song writer, Mowzey Radio, Saint Andrew, Nince Henry and then I would mention myself as Number one.
Under what circumstances can a musician get a collabo with you?
I think someone has to be too good and so special, you are not supposed to be just talented, you have to be exceptional.
What’s your favorite genre?
I really don’t know, I deal with anything you bring at any time and actually I am the onlyone who sings to bad beats, I like them because I have to work hard to make them sound good.
Who are your best vocalists in Uganda?
Myself! I wouldn’t add anyone else, if I had to add anyone else, it would be Micheal Jackson.
Your top 5 artistes in Uganda?
I wouldn’t say top 5 I would say hot five artistes at the moment and I would say Geosteady, Bobi Wine is hot because of controversy and he has a song that is tackling things that really matter to people, Bebe Cool is hot, myself I am hot I have the best songs at the moment, Sheebah and Ziza Bafana.
Are the fans right to boycott the Tubonga Nawe artistes?
I think it is the people who matter, it is the market that matters they may be right in their own perspective.
What is your relationship with Lydia Jasmine?
She is a lovely lady, first of all she has a nice a*s and it is big. I admire ladies with nice butts and Lydia Jazmine is one of them. I am honest it is beautiful and for me I don’t want to hide anything her a$$ brings value to my eyes.
What do you consider when dating a woman?
I think the personality. I haven’t studied so many people and that is why I haven’t dated many as well, I have to feel there is something special about you apart from your beauty and the nice body.
Any last words to your fans?
For my fans I would say thank you very much, without my fans, I wouldn’t be whom I am it is a very great thing to know that they support me and I don’t take them for granted.
Advice for upcoming artistes?
Well they should learn to be different not to be like someone, don’t try to be A Pass or Geosteady, you have to sound like yourself and that’s how you can make it. They should concentrate on being different, it is the best thing.
