Bigeye’s Seguya Musa Caught up with famous city model Lolah Adhama for a quick interview and we bring you the excerpts:
First thing First Who is Lolah Adhama?
Well I can spend all day talking about me but it’s no use blowing my own trumpet But Lolah is just not any ordinary girl like the rest, Born and raised in Tanzania but officially based in Uganda now well u can say am now a Ugandan national. Am multi-talented, a model for E.A modelling agency which obviously many already know by now, am an actress both here in Uganda and in Tanzania, reference episode one Beneath The Lies TV series, Mountains and Valleys TV series, The maid, The Ring and my latest that is still in production 5@Home TV series and Are you not a man TV series all by fast track productions. Am also a makeup artist
Tell us about your education: Have you attended fashion modeling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
It’s funny I never had any fashion or modelling course. I studied medicine in India for one year then changed for personal reasons and studied information technology and graduated with good points honestly. But my passion has always been and will always be in fashion ever since I was a little girl. I love camera and nice fashionable clothes. But I did take modelling training and workshops in different countries and still taking and learning more
Who inspired you to join Modeling?
Me I guess I grew up in an environment of boys only boys and I was the only girl but even then I would hide in my bed tie up a bedsheets like a curtain and then start making clothes for my dolls. Then I would entertain my Dad when he is back from work by modelling for him and make him scream like a very loud crowd praising me on stage untill I was 12yrs when I followed up on different great top models
Do your parents support the career you chose?
Well at first my dad could not understand why I would change from medicine to IT then do something totally different, but I took 6months trying to convince him that it’s something I love… And he is 100% happy with whatever I do as long as am happy. He knows my passions and always supports me, am sure my mum would have been more supportive if she was still around.
What happened to your mum?
Let’s just say I never knew her I still don’t. All I have are stories from different people so I rather not talk about it
Which Ugandan female model do you think is the best in the game?
That would be Amito. She is still holding the Ugandan flag and representing us all In the game
Do you have any special man in your life beside your dad?
Yes… My brothers.
Those are many, do you have that one special guy, and okay are you dating anyone?
Not at the moment I am just so complicated
Most models have weird manners, well is Lolah straight or Bi..?
That’s a wrong and bad perception of models. We don’t do weird stuff well at least am speaking for myself, Lolah is 100% straight
In the photos we normally see, you expose almost all your body, are you a bikini model?
Ooh yeah Am a bikini and lingerie model
Talk about your recent seminude photos that are doing rounds all over the internet, why did you share them?
Why? That I don’t think I will ever get the right answer without being judged, PR condemned. But ooh well let’s just say I have my moments, those were not photoshoots It was just a home pic me being me and that’s crazy
Who took those photos?
My crazy best friend. Who supports and understands my craziness she will kill me for calling her crazy so don’t tell her. Well only a crazy person like me can deal with me.
So do you have any other job you do besides modeling?
I do makeup for TV sets, and some music videos. Am the ambassador and face of a lingerie brand called Honeybee lingerie in Tanzania by Elizabeth Hurley. I also get paid for endorsing certain businesses
Which male model in Uganda would you wish to work with?
Which male model? That’s tough, every day I see hard working, really great models and I would love to work with all these talented people. I don’t segregate
And Ramah?
He is really good not worked with him before, but there are great models list is endless, like this Mr. Ideal Nigeria who is here in Uganda, king Abdul, Canary, etc.
where do you see yourself in five years from now?
5 years from now that I can’t tell I learnt to take one day at a time All I want is to be happy as long as am still alive am not allowing down just aiming higher. So ask me 5 years from now and I will tell u what I have accomplished.
Any Ugandan celebrity crush?
That’s a risky question. No no Ugandan Crush not yet
How can someone hire you do you have a manager?
Yes I do have a manager for bigger deals that require contract signing, but I handle the small projects.
Do you have a words for the young girls with a passion in modeling?
Yeah sure. For the girls out there that love modelling, I would like to tell them to stand firm and shoot for the stars. Nothing is easy and definitely modelling is not all about runway, crown, money etc. its hard work, sacrifice ,time, patience and love. People are going to judge ,condemn you and say so many things to you on your way up, you will be rejected and told so many mean things but from those mean things pick up your strength and push higher and never ever give up .There is no secret or shortcut to success, you just have to work hard and stay focused.
