Empty promises give birth to petty offences. When I moved in with Pascal Kiboi, pregnant with our first child, the agreement was, within a year he would make arrangements to go see my parents and pay my dowry in full. That was nine years ago, with three more kids to show for our bedroom efforts but nothing in the form of official meetings with my parents. Not that I haven’t been pushing him, I have, done more than shoving him in that direction but doesn’t seem convinced that the sacrifices I have made warrant a permanent promise of togetherness for better for worse.

Every time I bring up the subject, he either brushes it off with jokes and laughter or makes another promise ending in “verysoon“. I waited and waited, and now that he knows my chances of starting over with someone else are but buried, he is playing hard to get. He knows my market value has dwindled, after four kids, and plans to postpone it for as long as possible. There was a time, after he even showed me a bank statement that he was saving for our wedding ceremony, I called my mother to ask her make arrangements for our imminent arrival. She was so disappointed when it didn’t materialize. Since then, she treats me as her second favorite daughter, after my sister Sharon pulled off the wedding of the century to make her proud.

Pascal Kiboi my husband didn’t even catch a glimpse of what I was planning when my saloonist informed me of Dr. Mugwenu, a powerful herbalist from Vihiga. I secretly visited him and obtained his powerful spells. A combination of love charms and Healing spells did the trick. Within a month, our travel plans had matured. He paid my dowry in full, 70 cows and added an extra Kshs. 700,000 as compensation for previous failed attempts. My mother has been giggling ever since. She used to call me by my maiden name, Sylvia Mwakesi, but now, I’m Mrs. Kiboi. That’s how powerful Dr. Mugwenu is. Pulling off such feats isnt easy. But, here iam now, settled, peaceful and grateful for my children, husband and most of all, Dr. Mugwenu for eliminating the possibility of cheating and strengthening my marriage.
