In an interview with Galaxy TV, local music sensation Fik Fameica, whose real name is Shafik Walukaga, directly addressed the people of Kawempe, asserting that he is not their Member of Parliament.
Born and raised in Kawempe, Fameica proudly identifies with his roots, but he made it clear that his fame doesn’t equate to a political role.
Despite his connection to the area, he emphasised that he is not obligated to legislate on behalf of the people who did not elect him.
The artist’s statement was prompted by sentiments from the Kawempe community, suggesting that he had forgotten about them after achieving fame.
Fameica responded by highlighting the personal nature of his journey, stating that he embarked on his hustle independently without external support.
He expressed confusion over why people would feel entitled to his success, emphasising that he was not elected to any political office and didn’t make promises of infrastructure development.
Addressing the misconceptions, Fameica urged the community to refrain from claiming his success as their own and to understand that he operates on an individual level when it comes to helping others.
Meanwhile, Fik Fameica has his upcoming concert scheduled for the 26th of this month at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
