Social Media has evolved into a powerful tool, one not to be ignored, over the years. When an aggrieved patron shared their bad experience at Iguana Bar on Social Media, the management was quick to take action to save face.
It had been alleged that revelers (most especially blacks) are treated discriminately at the bar, with some even being denied entrance for fishy reasons.
However, in a statement shared on Social Media, Sebastiaan Petrus, the MD Iguana Bar reassured revelers that all people are welcome.

Hello Good People,
I want to start this by saying thank you to everyone who tweeted, messaged and brought this unfortunate situation to my attention. I’ve always imagined Iguana Bar as a place where people can go to unwind from a hard day of work, where people can celebrate birthdays and dance away random Tuesdays free from the hassles and burdens of our every day life.
I happened to be up in Karamoja during the time of the incident, and do not know the entirety of what took place. However, unhappy customers are enough for me to take take action. So here is what I am doing to show you that we hear you and value your input:
1. There will be absolutely no strong-arming at Iguana Bar by any member of the team. While we reserve the right to throw out aggressive or sexually abusive patrons, we have undertaken training with our staff so that they know the proper procedures to diffuse a situation. A calm, fast response that leaves little room for interpretation.
2. The offending parties have taken leave to undergo proper training and evaluation. Depending on the outcome of this leave, they will either stay on or be let go. It will depend highly on their ability to reform their actions.
3. I have an open door policy. If you have a concern or want to report an issue you are very welcome to come by the Iguana office. I am usually there between 4pm-7pm. The rest of the evening you can find me in and around the bar. Come to me with any complaint and let me know how I can help. I want to know how I can make things better for you.
Uganda has been a welcoming second home to me, and I refuse to stand by while those who were gracious enough to take me into this country feel discriminated against. That ends now. I’m not going to make excuses for what happened, I am only going to promise that this won’t happen again.
Again, please come to me with any complaints. I am welcome to your feedback, both positive and negative. We exist for you and because of you.
Cheers,
Sebastiaan Petrus
