Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has declared that he will not do any more collabos with Nigerian artists.
Speaking to Clouds FM, Diamond cited the reason that he was scared of it becoming ‘too much’.
“The reason we are halting it is because we don’t want it to become too much. When we started, we were looking to penetrate into the Nigerian market. Now we have gained traction in Nigeria, we’ve been accepted, we are known and our music is doing well. Even our individual songs are hits , for example ‘Nasema Nawe’ is doing very well in Nigeria as we speak. Therefore, you can’t just collabo with everyone because it loses meaning, there are a few more collabos left with ‘big’ artists which will be released later as we have them on hold at the moment. We have noticed that so many Nigerian artists are pleading to collabo with us so we stopped.
Among the songs we featured in by other artists, the last will be the song we did with KCee for now, we’ll start shooting the video tomorrow which will happen right here in South Africa. We were to shoot in Mozambique but because I have family issues here in South Africa it is impossible to go to Mozambique so I asked that we shoot the video here,” he said during his interview.
His declaration has not been received so well by some fans who feel that he has ‘grown a big head’, though some are of the opinion that it is a good career choice especially considering he is at the peak of his career.
