Ykee Benda

The past two weeks have been pressure filled ones for singer Ykee Benda with media and fans questioning when the singer will be travelling to Russia to perform at the opening ceremony of the World Cup. The singer was part of the World Cup anthem so it was expected he would feature on the live performance. However, there was no slightest sign Ykee was travelling to Russia, starting a rumor.

Ykee Benda this morning through a video on his Social Media platforms informed all Ugandans that he had never been contacted to perform at the World Cup and that it was a speculation from Ugandans. “I have never mentioned to anyone that I was going to perform at the World Cup. Ugandans started the rumor and I played a long” he said.

Ykee Benda was slated to be the second ever Ugandan artiste to grace a live performance at the World Cup after Jose Chameleone who performed in South Africa in 2010.
