“Baala” hit maker and journalism graduate, Daxx Kartel had his Saul-Paul transformation moment recently in the face of victory of his past and those he admired. He was the biggest winner of the night at Galaxy Fm’s Zzina Awards held Friday at Theatre La’Bonita where Daxx Kartel confessed publicly to having stolen Ragga Dee’s phone.
Down on his knees in the presence of Ragga Dee, Kartel said, “God is great. The place where I used to be pick pocketing and stealing people’s bags and phones is the same place where I am receiving awards. I want to confess this, I once stole Ragga Dee’s phone but it’s so amazing that I am stealing awards from him at the moment.”
Ragga Dee was presenting to him an award for best song of the year, which was won by his hit, “Baala”. Daxx Kartel began his career as a dancer with Raga Dee before going solo later.
He was the biggest winner of the night, bagging three awards for best raising musician while his song ‘Baala’ won best Afro Beat and Song of the year awards. He was followed by Bobi Wine with two awards.
