SC Villa president Eng. Ben Emmanuel Misagga has revealed that he only wants players that can play on the national team.

While appearing on 87.5 Star fm late night on Monday, Misagga explained why the club had to let go of about 18-players out of the 31 players they had in their squad last season.

“We had a lot of players but none of them was playing on the national team (Uganda Cranes). Some of them were just brand players like the legendary Akim Magumba, Steven Bengo among a few others,” Misagga said.

“We want Villa to send as many players as possible to the national team like it was in the past and that’s why we signed the likes of Lwanga Tadeo, Abel Eturude among others,” he added.

Villa had a playing staff of 25 players with six others on loan in different clubs. Since then they have signed a lot of players most of who now appear on the Under-23 National team, ‘The Kobs’.

New recruits: Umar Kasumba, Jonathan Mugabi, Abel Eturude, Patrick Mbowa, Robert Achema, Tadeo Lwanga, Patrick Mbowa and Ashadu Bugembe. Karim Ndugwa is on the verge of returning to Villa.

Released players: Derrick Walulya, Andrew Kaggwa, Rogers Aloro, Hakim Magumba, Joseph Kayiira, Ronald Muganga, Steven Bengo, Fahad Kawooya, Musa Docca, James Mukubya, John Kalumba, Samson Jackech, Rashid Mutebi, Chriszestom Ntambi, Erisa Ssekisambu
