Sami Mighty, real name Sami Okonya, a former member of the once-popular comedy group Da Mighty Family, has come out to publicly express deep regret over his involvement in politics, specifically his affiliation with the National Unity Platform (NUP).

In an emotional appeal, Sami revealed that his decision to engage in political activism has left him physically ill, emotionally distressed, and financially vulnerable.
“My wife left me, yet she had warned me about joining politics and doing whatever I did. I wish I had listened to her. I appeal to Ugandans for their support,” he said.
Sami, who faced multiple arrests due to his political involvement, is now battling poor health and seeking financial support for his medical needs.
He recounted how his deteriorating condition worsened after receiving limited support from NUP.
“NUP hasn’t helped me much. They took me to Wandegeya first and treated me and stopped there. They gave me Shs 1.2 million,” Sami disclosed.
In a surprising twist, the ailing comedian praised singer and government supporter Bebe Cool for stepping in to assist him during his lowest moment.
Despite their political differences, Bebe Cool reportedly facilitated Sami’s transfer from Bombo Military Hospital to Mulago National Referral Hospital for better treatment.
“I thank Bebe Cool. He helped me despite the things I said against the government and NRM. He made sure I got better medical care,” Sami acknowledged.
