Ghetto President, Bobi Wine, came out and said that he does not sing to win awards because his music is about inspiring and educating the masses.
Speaking in a live Television interview, the singer added some light on his earlier statements saying that he can only receive an award if it is for a song like “Dembe”.
“My music back then when I was entering music I had a mission, some want money, other to become a star. I came because I had to do something for my people, Kamwokya people are my people, ghetto people are my people, and African’s are my people. I did one step at a time. I am a Ugandan I decided to concentrate on Uganda in my music,” Bobi stated.
On why he doesn’t value Ugandan awards, here is what the Byekwaso artiste said; “I don’t care a lot about awards. The only award you can give me is when I sing a song like “Dembe” and people listen to the message. My awards are not tangible. When I sing and advocate for youths to use Condoms and after three years HIV has gone down in Uganda, I count that as an award,” Bobi elaborated on his point.
“My mission is to change people’s lives.”
