Musician Sheebah Karungi who was detained for a few hours on Monday has set the record straight about her fraud case involving a city bar.
The singer who was accused of obtaining money by false pretense to perform at Club Zodiac (formerly Steak Out) only for her not to show up has said that she is not a fraudster and never will be.
According to the ‘Okikola Otya’ singer, the man behind her melancholy is called Ranks. Sheebah told the authorities that she has for long known this man to be the one who pretends to be her manager and collects money from clients. Ranks promises clients that Sheebah will perform at their shows and offers receipts after receiving part of the money only for Sheebah never to show up.
In the Zodiac bar case, after 250,000shs was paid as a down payment for the 900,000shs performance that was supposed to take place last week, Sheebah didn’t know that Ranks was at his old habits again and that she would end up in jail for it. She was rounded up and taken to CPS at around 2pm on Monday.
As part of her statement, this is what Sheebah had to say about the real fraudster; “This man Ranks has been doing it for long. He takes money in my name and am not aware of it. I don’t want to pay for money that I didn’t even enjoy a single coin from.”
Fortunately for Sheebah, Ranks has been detained as investigations go on.
