The GSMA presented Huawei Technologies with the 2018 Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Mobile Industry. The award was presented at a special ceremony where Huawei was recognized for decades of advocating new technology standards, driving digital transformation, and building out the digital ecosystem.

At the ceremony, Ken Hu, Rotating and Acting CEO at Huawei, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “Over the years, we have worked with many of you to advance 3G, 4G – and now 5G and other ICT technologies,” he said, “so that more people can get connected and enjoy better services. In this time, Huawei has connected over one-third of the world’s population. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved, but the mobile industry is evolving. It will soon become the cornerstone of a fully connected, intelligent world, and we still have a lot of work to do.”

The GSMA’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Mobile Industry recognizes individuals, companies and organizations that made significant contributions to the development of the ICT industry and the advancement of mobile communications. In addition to its technological contributions, Huawei was recognized for its commitment to collaboration with the industry: it actively participates in over 360 standards bodies, industry organizations, and open source communities, where it has played an instrumental role in cultivating the broader digital ecosystem.

“On behalf of the GSMA, I would like to congratulate Huawei on its commitment to pushing the industry forward,” said Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, GSMA and Founder and Chairman, Bharti Enterprises. “In just 30 years, they have managed to become the largest supplier of mobile networking equipment in the world. Their contribution to global standards, approach to innovation, and commitment to helping customers and partners succeed will have a lasting impact on the future of our industry.”

Since its founding in 1987, Huawei has expanded from a small reseller of telephone exchange equipment to a global market leader in telecom and enterprise network solutions and consumer devices.

Through its history the company has shown a strong focus on research and development. From 2007 to 2016, Huawei’s total R&D investment surpassed US$48 billion dollars, having invested $11 billion in 2016 alone. In recent years, Huawei has concentrated on building out the next generation of digital infrastructure by driving innovation in cloud, artificial intelligence, and 5G technologies. It continues to funnel 10%-15% of its annual revenue back into R&D each year.

As the senior year nears its end, the prom season begins. The evening can turn into a wild party, never to be forgotten, or end up an equally memorable disaster. The chances are about equal. It is up to you to make sure that the latter scenario does not materialize. There are plenty of factors to consider, things to buy, schedules to sync – so your best bet is to start early and make sure that no part of your plan is out of order. Don’t risk a fiasco.

Create a checklist & never forget any part of your plan

If I could re-do my high school prom, I would definitely make a checklist of all the things that needed to be done before the big night. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, the party was great – but there are definitely things that could’ve gone smoother. The better you plan ahead, the less likely you are to have any regrets. Prepare a checklist of things to organize for prom and – when the important event finally comes – you will be able to fully enjoy it without stressing over your dress, makeup or limo. Today, we definitely have it easy. Just download a prom planner app and you’re good to go.

Coordinate everything with your date & avoid miscommunication

One thing I did do right is to coordinate everything with my prom date. He was kind enough to put up with all my quirks and we ended up having a ball. Making prom night plans with a date doesn’t need to involve hours of sitting together, making lists and figuring things out on the spot. You can do it the easy way – by updating your shared calendar and simply adding bits and pieces of information as you go along. It helps you avoid confusion and makes sure that you’re always on the same page. The only thing you need is an internet connection and a decent online platform to plan a prom with your date.

Dress to impress even if you’re on a budget

Getting dressed to the nines and absolutely shining is one of the most important parts of any prom. No girl will miss the opportunity and guys too will want to look their very best in their prom outfit. There is, however, a catch – dresses and tuxedos are not exactly cheap. If you’re on a tight budget, you will want to find an affordable yet classy outfit. While assisting my younger sister prepare for her big night, I stumbled upon this list of apps that have helped us a lot in making her prom into a real blast.

Apps to Plan the Perfect Prom Night

She ordered a lovely prom dress at a bargain, got her hair done in time, and even managed to sort everything out with her date without having a single argument. Impressive, isn’t it? You’d be surprised how many problems simply go away on their own if you know how to use the tech available to you.

Conclusion

Prom night is one of the most important milestones in any teenager’s life. Still, organizing it can be a tiny bit stressful. I should know – I agonized over mine for a month. If you want to make sure that everything runs smoothly, you ought to stick to your checklist, coordinate all the ideas with your date and, of course, get everything you need to look your very best for the big night. You might even be able to order a dress online for a bargain – if you know where to look.
