If you had written off Ugandan Theatre, then you should think otherwise and attend this year’s Bayimba International festival. One of the great acts to expect is the phenomenal Kaya Kagimu Mukasa.
According to the PRO of Bayimba International Festival, Philip Masembe, here’s what to expect:
“A versatile film arts practitioner, dancer and instrumentalist with over 20years of professional experience, Kaya Kagimu Mukasa is an alumni of The Royal Court Theatre International Playwrights’ Residency, United Kingdom. She has worked on drama and film projects in over 16 countries, taking on different roles, wrote and managed plays for Dinner Theatre and also went on and found Arts Treasure, a theatre company she is currently the Director.
Kaya comes again to Bayimba 2013 with a theatre play “My Maid and I” a story of two friends in conversation about the understanding of their current and previous maids. There are so many stories that people who have maids can tell – Kaya says, I have chosen a few aspects to deal with in this humorously teasing drama. It is a play acted by two women.”
So, do you have a story to tell about your maid at home, well, ‘My Maid and I’ will help you express your words visually?
For the theatre lovers, the festival will definitely meet your expectations.
