Uganda’s celebrated gay activist Bombastic Kasha Jacqueline is TIMES’ Magazine Cover personality of this week for the European Edition.
Jacqueline Nabagesera, 34, was profiled for her work of defending the LGBT rights in Uganda. She says she’s been threatened with death for her work as an activist.
Whereas Uganda is once again in the spotlight, it makes it there for the wrong reasons. A mountain has been made out of an anthill as far as homophobia is concerned in the country. It has been exaggerated.
Which also brings us to the next question; “why does the West only profile the bad side of Uganda?” It is the danger of a single sided story. Uganda has much good that outweighs the bad.
Yet, the west is all out to push its own agenda, to cast Uganda as a dark country, a place unsafe for many gays. All the same, kudos to Nabagesera for the great job of representing the country.
