As Ugandans were busy perusing through Anita Fabiola’s pictures that broke the internet, an A-list celebrity was in town. No one noticed. Except us. Renowned Hollywood funnyman Jack Black was in town, in Kampala, in support of the Red Nose Day. The School of Rock actor, during his visit in Uganda, met a one Felix, a 12-year-old street kid who relies on collecting and returning recyclables off the streets for a penny.
In the video that aired on NBC, Felix told Jack how his mother died and has never met his father, he has siblings but he doesn’t know where they are. It was quite a touching story. And many children on these dusty streets have equally touching stories.
Red Nose Day is a project that has reportedly raised more than $21million to help impoverished communities in the US and abroad. Other A-list personalities that joined the cause across the globe were: Kim Kardashian, Reese Witherspoon, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, One Direction, Justin Timberlake, et al.
