SCVU

By James Robert Kayindi

Last season’s runners up Victoria University host a highly motivated SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. Despite having been forced into a late one-all draw by Simba last week, Villa players come into this game with all reasons to smile after the club president Eng. Ben Misagga cleared all their arrears yesterday after the team’s training session.

Morley Byekwaso of Victoria University is under immense pressure after a string of unimpressive results that have seen them gather only 13 points from 11 games. Nonetheless, SCVU will still be without some of its star players like Denis Iguma, Murushid Jjuuko among others.

Villa’s Sam Simbwa will be without team captain Isaac Kirabira who is nursing a groin injury. Steven Bengo who has been linked with a move to Gor Mahia will hold the arm-band to lead the ‘Blues’. Villa are 3rd on the table with 23 points from 11 games and have a chance to go second if they can pick a win or a draw since they have a better goal difference than second placed KCC.

Meanwhile, the match has been shifted from Namboole stadium to the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo due to the NRM conference that is being organized.

Villa squad to play against SCVU:

Nicholas Ssebwato (GK) Ali Kimera (GK) Derrick Walulya, Fred ‘Junior’ Nkata, Fahad Kawooya, Musa Docca, Hassan Wasswa, David Bagole, Steven Bengo (C), Erisa Ssekisambu, Karim Ndugwa, Ronald Kaggwa, Victor ‘Igwe’ Emenayo, Moses Gaale, Titus ‘Tito’ Lubega, Henry Lopidia, Ivan ‘Kaloolo’ Kiwewa, Ochero Sulaiman
