Revelers at the Club Mega Fest were left disgruntled after some of the highly anticipated musicians failed to appear on stage. The organisers of the concert have since come out to explain the reasons for their no-show.
Here’s the full statement from the organisers of the concert:
Club Music would like to thank all its production partners, the police, the artistes and especially the revelers that graced the first ever Club Mega Fest on Saturday.
Club always promises to deliver on what it promises to consumers and did everything to ensure a smooth and successful event. Unfortunately not everything went a according to the script.
We apologise that one of the international acts, Mafikizolo, was unable to perform due to the following reasons.
The show was meant to kick off at midday but due to the heightened terror alerts, the security sweep of the entire venue took longer than anticipated. This pushed the show-time program by over three hours.
Round about 2am we were informed about some security concerns and advised to wrap up the show within the hour.
Therefore Mafikizolo were unable to perform because their set was in the excess of an hour.
We apologise to all that missed to watch Mafikizolo on Saturday and we would like to clarify that they were ready and available to perform.
We would also like to clarify that we had got clearance from authorities for the Mega Fest to go on up to 6am.
It was also unfortunate that our own Chameleon was unable to perform.
He was unable to secure return transportation from a gig in South Sudan.
As Club Music we thank you all that made the show and hope you enjoyed all the other acts that performed.
