Bebe Cool allegedly made remarks about Club Amnesia that did not seat well with part of the management at the night spot. There have been accusations that the singer was bad mouthing the club after ending his gig that had been running for close to two years.
But what did he actually say that rubbed some people the wrong way? According to the person who interviewed him at Laftaz, comedian Ronnie McVex aka Mr. Good News, Bebe made no mention of poor pay, contrary to what has been making rounds on social media.
Here is the interview excerpt:
“Ronnie: We hear mbu, you were sent away from amnesia. Is it because your music is not that… ahhhhh
BEBECOOL: It’s really unfortunate when Ugandans still have that mentality and kind of thinking. I wasn’t chased from Club Amnesia but in the business i do, i can’t keep appearing every Tuesday in amnesia yet i have a show in two months and ahalf. I have to create that demand from the audience.
And besides, i also had to let the young ones come up and develope, because in all honesty, Amnesia doesn’t really add much to me because BEBECOOL is a brand.”
