Here’s a list of must-attend events happening in Uganda.

September is already here and has most of us wondering where the time has gone. January seems like it was just yesterday. Despite the reality hinting that 2016 is just around the corner, 2015 still has much to offer to the traveler who loves to go out. Here’s what’s happening in Uganda.

September – Blankets and Wine

This franchise is celebrating its 10th edition in Kampala. Sponsored by Tusker Lager, this event will feature the famed South African artiste Zahara who primarily sings in English and her native Zulu. The event will also feature a number of East African artists. Get a blanket, bring a bottle of good wine and great company to enjoy this celebration of African music. This event takes place on the 27th September, 2015 at the Kampala Museum grounds.

September – Bayimba Festival

The Bayimba International Festival of the Arts is uganda’s number one multi-arts festival. It takes place during the third week of September. The festival has developed a benchmark for the consumption of the finest arts, presenting attendees with a series of music, dance, theatre, film and visual arts from renowned and upcoming artists. This year’s festival showcases over 600 artists from Uganda and East Africa from the 18th to the 20th September.

October – Kampala City Festival

The yearly event showcases the beauty of the Ugandan culture as well as a number of talented artists. It is organized by the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and features street parades and marches, live music and a national dress competition which draws in designers from all over the country. The festival takes place from the 3rd to the 5th October, 2015.

November – Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo

Set to take place at the Kampala Serena from the 17th to the 19th November, the event is a place for tour operators and tourists to meet. The exhibition is an important platform for tourism networking and business transactions. The exhibition aims to raise the profile of Uganda as a destination to both domestic and international travelers. This year’s theme is Family and Travel and the event is organized by the Uganda Tourism Board in conjunction with KCCA and Uganda Wildlife Authority.

November – Entebbe Botanical Garden Birding Festival

The first of its kind, the birding festival is meant to spotlight bird-watching in Uganda. Uganda has 10% of the world’s bird species and 50% of Africa’s bird species. This ensures a fantastic bird-watching experience against the backdrop of the breathtaking Entebbe Botanical Gardens. The event will be organized by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and exact dates are to be confirmed.
