Vipers vs KCCA

By James Robert Kayindi

Here are the five clubs that are still unbeaten in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

KCCA FC: The 10 time league champions, 8 time Uganda Cup winners and current table leaders are still unbeaten after playing five matches in the league under charges of Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa.

The Kasasiro Boys have managed three wins and two draws giving them 11 points, scoring nine goals and conceding four. Wins came against Sadolin Paints on opening day (3-0), The Saints (1-0) plus Simba (2-1), draws against Express FC (1-1) and Vipers (2-2).

Vipers SC: The league defending champions are also yet to lose a single game having played five matches, collecting 11 points, scoring eight goals and conceding three as Wasswa Richard and Edward Golola look forward to retaining the title. They only lost one game last season in their away fixture against a relegated Rwenshama at Nakivubo (2-1).

Vipers are second on the table after securing three victories and being involved in two stalemates against The Saints (3-0) on opening day, JMC Hippos (1-0) and Sport Club Victoria University (2-1). The stalemates were against Jinja based side Bul FC (0-0) and title rivals KCCA FC (2-2).

Express FC: The rejuvenated Red Eagles are third on the log with a tally of 10 points, scoring seven goals and conceding three from six games.

Express under the commands of Gitta Alex and Wasswa Bossa have managed two wins against newly promoted side Maroons FC (3-2) and Wankulukuku rivals Lweza FC (2-1) with four draws against; KCCA FC (1-1), Police FC (0-0), Bright Stars (1-1) and URA SC (0-0).

Police FC: The Kops are also among the five unbeaten sides and stand 4th on the 16-team table after gathering 10 points from six games.

Two wins and four draws against Simba (1-0) and Sadolin Paints (2-1), The Saints (1-1), Express (0-0), Soana FC (1-1) in the Kavumba derby plus JMC Hippos (0-0) respectively. Police recently welcomed Sam Timbe back (from Sofapaka) in the capacity of head coach with Angelo Lonyesi taking the role of assistant coach.

URA FC: The Tax collectors have only played four but new head coach, Moses Basena and his counterpart Kefa Kisala seem to be getting things right after securing 2 wins and 2draws to be positioned 6th on the table with 8points.

URA beat Bul FC 1-0 and Soana 3-1, picked up draws against SC Villa (1-1) and Express FC (0-0).
