Legendary Ugandan singer Halima Namakula has opened up about her early influence on songstress Rema Namakula’s music career.
During a recent TikTok live session, Halima shared how she discovered and nurtured Rema’s talent from a young age.
Halima Namakula revealed that Rema began singing at a tender age and first appeared as a backup singer in some of her popular songs, including Ekimbeewo, Tonkutula, and Sambaggala.
According to Halima, these early opportunities helped shape Rema into the star she is today.
“I saw potential in her when she was still very young,” Halima said.
“I took her in, raised her like my own, and helped her grow both as a person and as an artist.”
Halima Namakula is known as one of Rema’s foster parents.
She not only supported her upbringing but also guided her musically and personally.
Through mentorship and close care, Halima helped lay the foundation for Rema’s successful career.
Today, Rema Namakula is celebrated as one of Uganda’s top female artists, and Halima’s role in her journey remains a significant part of her story.
