Prominent Ugandan singer Hajjati Stecia Mayanja has opened up about the breakup of Eagles Production, one of Uganda’s most celebrated music groups.

The split, which occurred over 15 years ago, was marked by internal conflicts that significantly altered the local music scene.
Speaking in a recent interview, Hajjati Stecia Mayanja shared her personal experience of the split. “I was around when everything happened as they split. But we all knew most of the things that were being claimed against each other,” she revealed.

The singer also expressed her unwavering support for Mesach Semakula, a key member of the band, during the turbulent period.
“For me, I was on Papa Mesach Semakula’s side because he is the one who introduced me to every band member. I knew no one. I was always there for him, even when their issues proceeded to court,” she said.
Eagles Production, which featured renowned artists like Mesach Semakula, Geofrey Lutaaya, Ronald Mayinja, Catherine Kusasira, and Grace Sekamate, was a powerhouse in Uganda’s music industry.
However, its breakup led to the formation of new music groups, including Golden Band, spearheaded by Mesach Semakula, and Da New Eagles, led by Hon. Geofrey Lutaaya.
The disbandment of Eagles Production marked a significant chapter in Ugandan music history, laying the foundation for the emergence of these vibrant bands that continue to shape the industry today.
