Leon Island ssinger, Guvnor Ace who is currently in Europe has shared some advice for Ugandan musicians in the diaspora who want to make it in Uganda.
According to Ace who dominated the news after marrying a 75-year-old zungu woman was speaking to fans in a live Facebook session when he said that musicians in the diaspora need to follow his simple formula to remain relevant in their country and make it big even when they are not there.
“Most singers forget when they get in the diaspora. They forget that the fans and promoters in Uganda are the ones to make them. Hams Junz, DJ Mazzo, VJ Jingo are the ones who make Ugandan music great. You need people on ground,” Guvnor noted.
He then added; “When you know such guys and you are in the diaspora it can work for you. You also need the radio personalities to help you. But as you know, you have to put in some money.”
Guvnor plans to keep releasing music for Ugandans even when he is not around. A number of Ugandan musicians based in the diaspora have been struggling to keep in touch with their fans back home. We hope they take the advice.
We will keep you posted.
