‘BE THE BOSS’ WITH GUINNESS’S BRAND NEW FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Kampala, 13th August, 2013 – GUINNESS, the beer of choice for football fans in Uganda is giving its fans the chance to Be the Boss of their very own football team with a free to play fantasy football game dubbed GUINNESS FOOTBALL MANAGER.
GUINNESS is dedicated to giving football lovers across Uganda a deeper and richer football experience. To play the Guinness Football Manager, football fans just need to register at m.guinessvip.com and select their team. The fantasy football game can be played on mobile phones and computers, and gives football fans the chance to take control and manage their own team.
Players will be able to choose and manage a team of Premiership footballers; score points based on their performance and compete against other managers on the GUINNESS FOOTBALL MANAGER leader board to win great prizes.
GUINNESS FOOTBALL MANAGER will be fronted by well-known football manager, Roberto Di Matteo. Like GUINNESS, Di Matteo has proven through his career that he is ‘made of more’, most famously leading Chelsea FC to their first UEFA Champions League win in 2012. Each week throughout the season, Di Matteo will choose his ‘Made of More’ player, the player he believes has made the most significant contribution in that week’s matches and any managers with that player in their fantasy team, will be awarded extra points.
Speaking during the unveiling, Mark Mugisha, UBL Marketing Manager said: “We are incredibly excited about the launch of the fantasy football game which we are launching today to give fans time to select and manage their team before the English Premier League season kicks off on 17th August, 2013. We are offering football fans more exciting football experiences – everyone can play and enjoy the best experience possible.”
This brand new fantasy football game is widely available for football fans to play on smartphones and feature phones as well as on a computer. It gives fans the chance to step up to the challenge of being the boss – you pick the team, you call the shots and you get the glory. You get to select players from clubs in the English Premier League and bring them together in your very own team.
“If you love football and think that you have what it takes to be a manager, this is the game for you”, added Mark Mugisha.
The Guinness Football Manager game gives fans the chance to win a grand prize up to UGX 5,000,000 as the Manager of the season and a monthly prize of UGX 1,500,000.
Guinness will also be launching a version that can be played on a basic text phone as well. It is the first game of its kind that is available on a simple SMS basis where, for the price of one SMS, you can play the game on any network in the same way you would top up airtime.
