Following the successful second International Climate Change Conference for Children Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green, My Kid is a Superstar together with Vivo Energy Uganda, are now organizing the annual children’s green festival.
The Uganda Little Hands Go Green/ Vivo Energy 2015 Green Festival will be held at Kololo Airstrip on Sunday 23rd, August 2015. Parents, children, and environmentalists will socialize with an aim of creating environment and climate change ambassadors through the green education movement.
Since May 2012 Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green has been nurturing its mission of inspiring a patriotic nationwide culture of “Our Environment is Our Future and Our Future is Our responsibility” by creating a mass hysteria of tree planting by children both at school and at home which led to their partnership with Vivo Energy, whose focus areas for Community investment are Education, Road safety and Environment.
The event that attracts over 10,000 children and is aimed at enlightening the children on the values of conserving our environment through fun engaging activities. Various exhibitors have been brought on board to engage the children in more exciting ways on how to conserve the environment. Key to note is the zoo animals from UWEC for all to have basic knowledge on them and appreciate importance of animals in our environment.
The event will have a collection point for all the polythene bags brought in by the children and their parents alike to further discourage Kavera(polythene bag) use a sits not a friend to the environment. Radio and Weasel will headline as the green musical ambassadors alongside the ‘Sitya Loss’ kids and Mother Majeri P.S that will launch their Eco song and video. The event starts at 9am and closes at 6pm at a fee of 10,000 shillings for the kids and free entrance for their parents.
This event is organized in partnership with Vivo Energy, Vision Group, Post Bank Uganda, Capital FM, Green Watch, NFA and NEMA.
