Renowned Ugandan talent manager, Lawrence Labejja says the enormous greed and selfishness is still a deadly syndrome among talents like musicians.
In a phone call interview with NBS TV, Lawrence Labeja said that the reason why talent managers are not delivering is that artists often deny them chances for personal decisions.
Labejja also reveals that most times, the decisions taken by talents without a conclusion from their managers, are disastrous to their career.
“Artists hiring and firing managers is very possible especially when the manager is not delivering. The reason why managers are not delivering is that at times musicians are not giving them chances to decide personally. If a manager is deciding personally, an artist has to give him time. Artists often want to decide things that are even impossible that’s why they are struggling. That’s why they hire and fire but its supposed to be a gradual development process,” Lawrence Labejja said.
Lawrence Labejja is popularly known for having once upon a time managed two of Uganda’s great musical brands; Bobi Wine and Radio & Weasel.
Labejja’s lamentations come at a time that talent managers have also been included in the Operation Wealth Creation programme in Gulu City.
