Gravity Omutujju has responded to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, accusing him of unfair treatment and misinformation about his music.
In a recent video, Gravity dismissed allegations that his songs are vulgar, arguing that they are simply artistic expressions.
The controversy comes from the Katikkiro’s directive to Buganda Kingdom’s media platforms, including CBS Radio and BBS Terefayina, to refrain from playing music by Gravity Omutujju and fellow artist Lil Pazo.
According to Mayiga, the music from these artists could distress listeners and does not align with the Kingdom’s standards. He also stated that he would rather avoid being questioned by the Kabaka or the public regarding the type of content aired on these stations.
However, Gravity refuted these claims, asserting that neither CBS nor BBS Terefayina has ever supported his music since he launched his career in 2011. He suggested that the information presented to the Katikkiro was false and tarnished his reputation.
“Ssebo Owek. Katikkiro, I want to tell you that I do not sing vulgar songs, as you claimed while addressing me. I have never done so and will never do so. I’m just an artist that employs art in his music. Besides, your media stations have never played any of my songs ever since I started singing in 2011,” Gravity said.
He defended his craft, emphasizing that his music is a reflection of creativity and not an avenue for vulgarity.
