Hellofood Uganda, is hosting the KRA’s, with Done Deal and MTN as its organizing partners with Pepsi, SN Brussels Airlines and Robertson Winery Co-sponsoring the inaugural Kampala Restaurant Awards 2015 to take place at Serena Hotel Ball room on the 25th November, 2015. The gates will open at 7.00PM, with the dress Code being a Black Tie Event.
As we eagerly await the Kampala restaurant awards that are to take place this Wednesday, the KRA team organized a celebrity cook off. An activation that took place at the Great Indian Dhaba, with 3 teams taking part. 1st team was made up of Moses Musiime and Isaac Tegule from MTN, 2nd team Peace Menya and Nadia Owor from Radio City and then the 3rd team had Golola Moses paired up with James Onen aka Fatboy from Sanyu. The contestants where tasked to cook an Indian dish of butter chicken, spiced biryani rice and a desert.
Denzel was the MC for the Cook off and he kept both the crowd and the contestants engaged throughout the duration of the competition. Also on offer was wine tasting from Robertsons winery and a Indian cuisine buffet for all persons in attendance courtesy of The Great Indian Dhaba and Hellofood.
After an hour and a half all the contestants were done and submitted their food to the judges and tasting team. The MTN team of Moses and Isaac won the desert category and Main course dish was won by the Team pairing of Golola and Fatboy, with the Radio city team of Peace and Nadia being 1st runner ups in the main course category and the MTN team 2nd runner ups.
The winning team of Golola and Fat boy each won themselves Ushs 150, 000 massage voucher from Emotions spa and lounge, a bottle of wine from Roberstons winery, Ushs 75, 000 and Ushs 150,000 meal voucher from Tamarai and the Great Indian Dhaba respectively. The other contestants all each got Ushs 150,000 massage Vouchers from emotions and a bottle of wine bottle each courtesy of Robertsons winery.
If the celebrity cook is anything to go by, then the Kampala restaurant awards activations are already baring fruits and am already excited about the awards, which will be an of evening filled with good food, good wine, meaningful interactions and good music. Those that have not voted yet should do so on the KRA website and also purchase their tickets for the awards to be able to witness in person the winners of the first awards of this kind in the country.
