Uganda’s popular and influential hip hop artiste has explained why the hip hop genre was not considered in this year’s MAMA awards.

GNL Zamba while speaking to Spark TV’s Live wire, said that the problem is with the hip hop artistes who are not working hard and putting in enough effort to raise the genre’s flag.

“My defense is that I have been away for five years concentrating on film, but I want to ask hip hop artistes that I left here why they are not working hard. I believe it’s only hard work that pays. I want to encourage my fellow hip hop artistes to wake up from their comfort zones and work to promote this genre. I was not happy but I am sure this was an eye opener to them.

The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) which will take place in Kampala, Uganda on February 20, 2021. Nominations for 2021 edition are officially in and some of Ugandan entertainers and artistes scored big.
Congratulations to the 2021 #MTVMAMA nominees!
