Boateng-Muntari

Just a few hours after the Uganda Cranes head coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic named his provisional 25man squad that will start preparations on Monday, group mates Ghana also named their squad through head coach Kwesi Appiah. One of the few African great coaches that manages their national teams, Appiah named his 24man provisional squad ahead of their Uganda, Togo clashes in group E of the 2015 Africa nationals cup qualifiers.

In his named 24 man squad, five of the country’s most experienced players who also featured in the recently concluded FIFA world cup in Brazil have been left out of the squad. Among the five dropped players are midfield General Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, attacking midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, Samuel Inkoom and Adam Kwarase who are likely not feature in Ghana’s first two games of the qualifiers.

According to Ghana soccernet.com, the development follows the explosive problems at the World Cup which resulted in the sacking of two players at the competition in Brazil.

This however gave Kwesh a chance to bring seven new faces onto the national team squad that didn’t surface at the world cup in Brazil. The seven new players include Shot-stopper Razak Brimah, Baba Abdul Rahman, Jeffrey Schlupp, Awal Mohammed, Yussif Chibsah, Solomon Asante and David Accam who have been invited to face Uganda and Togo in the Ghana’s group openers.

Captain Asamoah Gyan of Al Ain, (UAE), Kwadwo Asamoah from Juventus in Italy, Andre Ayew from Olympic Marseille , Christian Atsu who is at Everton on loan from Chelsea and Germany-based defender Abdul-Rahman were part of Kwesi’s 24-mansquad.

The Black Stars will host Uganda on the 6th of September before travelling to Lome, Togo who open up against Guinea in Morocco just after four days, as the cranes host Guinea at Namboole on match day two of the campaign.
