‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Delayed — Co-Creators Explain Why

Game of Thrones

The wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 just got even longer. The show’s co-creators revealed that they’ll begin filming a little later than expected.

Co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss admitted in a recent interview that filming for the highly-anticipated seventh season has been pushed back. But it’s for a good reason!

“We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a little bit later,” the pair said during a podcast with UFC Unfiltered hosts Jim Norton and Matt Serra. “We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’ — and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more. So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, gray weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”

Game of Thrones usually premieres in late March or April every year. With the new season being filmed later than usual, it could be summer before we see the show again! Season 6 of the show premiered on April 24, 2016.

The seventh season of Game of Thrones will also be shorter than previous seasons. The co-creators revealed that only 15 episodes of the show are left. Hopefully, these final episodes will be longer than normal ones! Every season of Game of Thrones prior to the seventh has consisted of 10 episodes.

The co-creators also confirmed that there will only be two more seasons of the show.
