The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has set new conditions for players to be allowed to feature for any club in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) and the FUFA Big league come next season.
Under the new conditions, a player will be required to have a Ugandan passport as a key document for them to be given a playing license in the two top leagues of the country. The federation has already communicated the developments to the concerned clubs and stake holders through a circular numbered No.1012 that was signed by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.
“The National passport verified copy shall be a compulsory document to be uploaded in the registration of players to obtain a new or renewed license to play for any club in the Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League or next season 2015-2016,” reads part of the circular.
The federation has further pledged to render assistance to players who will need their help by writing their recommendations to the immigration office. However this will only be done for Ugandans and foreign players will have to use passports of their respective countries.
“Clubs and players are advised to start processing their new or renew their passports so that the registration or issuance of Players Licenses is not delayed or denied due to lack of possession of a valid passport,” the federation asserts on its website.
