The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has finally set a date for this year’s Uganda Cup finals that will see a repeat of the 1997 final of the annual tournament when SC Villa and Kampala Capital City Authority fc come head to head.

The final will be played on the 6th of June at a venue that is yet to be announced as the federation awaits for inspection reports from its officials on the biding sides. The date was announced yesterday by the FUFA competitions’ Director Ali Mwebe. Mwebe informed the media that the earlier date had an international fixture involving the Uganda U-23 team.

The two biding sides for hosting the 2015 Uganda Cup finals are Western and the Kitara region.

“FUFA sent an inspection team to check on the facilities of the stadiums in the two regions that placed in their bids and the final decision will be made soon,” reads a statement on the federation’s website.

In the 1997 finals, Villa edged KCCA 2-1 but the ‘Kasasiro boys’ under the charges of Abdallah Mubiru will be hoping to give the ‘Blues’ a test of their own medicine.
