Uganda’s U-17 national team’s failure to qualify for the U-17 Africa youth championship in Niger could have acted as an eye opener to the football stakeholders in the country. It should be remembered that the Uganda Cubs failed to qualify for the Africa Youth championship last year after losing 4-1 on aggregate to the young Chipolopolo of Zambia.

In the weekly press conference held yesterday, the FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo said that the federation is going to introduce the U-17 league in Uganda as one of the ways to build and develop soccer in the country. For the same cause, the president also called upon all stakeholders and well-wishers of the game to come up and help FUFA in any way they can to make this happen.
The U-17 league could be part of the FUFA 2019 campaign that will aim at seeing Uganda qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 that will be hosted in Cameroon.
It’s vital to remember that after Uganda’s failure to qualify to for AFCON 2015, FUFA came up with a campaign named the “Project Cameroon 2019” in which the federation will analyze why Uganda has failed to qualify for the tourney since 1978 and find possible solutions.
Note: Only South Africa has the U-17league in Africa so that would make Uganda the second.
