Frank Gashumba, the former President of the Uganda Senior Bachelors Association (USBA), also President of now silent Sisimuka Uganda, Top Kampala Socialite and Father of Sheilah Gashumba has endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for President in the 2026 General Elections.
Speaking at the Memorial Mass for the late Joseph Tamale Mirundi held at St.Gyaviira Catholic Church in Bunamwaya, Gashumba noted that he’d buried every disagreement he had with Museveni. “My only point of contention with the President was with the challenges the Banyarwanda community was facing when it comes to getting passports. Once the President solved that, I have no issue with him and I am all for him come 2026,” Gashumba noted.
Gashumba also asked people to stop blackmailing the President. That the only way to get things is to work cordially with the President. He also offered 300 bags of cement towards the Mirundi Media Plaza that will be constructed on Mpigi road.
Mirundi Family Organizes Memorial Mass
Today 14th August 2025, the family of the late John Tamale Mirundi, one of Uganda’s most outspoken media personalities held a memorial mass to commemorate one year since he passed on. During the Mass, the family also thanked the President for his support, and pleaded with him to find time and lay a wreath on his grave.
Hajji Faruk Kirunda, the Special Presidential Assistant was the Guest of Honour and carried a message from the President to the family. Kirunda noted that the reason the President is yet to meet Tamale Mirundi’s family is because they are still bickering. “Once you stop bickering, the President is ready to meet you. The President will also contribute towards the Mirundi Memorial Plaza,” he noted. Kirunda then gave the family UGX 30 million from the President to aid in covering the expenses of the day.
Others present included Honourable Ssekitoleko, member of Parliament for Bamunanika County. Also present was Simon Muyanga Lutaaya and Steven Dunstan Busuulwa. Mirundi’s family was fully represented by his children including famous TikToker, Tamale Mirundi Junior and Dr. Gilbert Tamale Mirundi.
At the Memorial Mass, the Mirundi Memorial Plaza slated to take UGX 1 billion was launched. It will feature a library with all Mirundi’s books, and shops. “We want our father’s name to keep sounding for generations to come, he never wanted his name to be silenced,” noted daughter Teddy Nantongo.
