
Former Express FC and SC Villa midfielder, Friday Ssenyonjo, who officially retired from soccer in 2004 after nursing several injuries, passed on Sunday morning at his home in Kasasi.
According to the local football governing body, FUFA, the Uganda Football Players’ Association (UFPA) is taking care of the burial arrangements and he will be laid to rest today at 4pm.
“It is sad to lose such a friend. Burial arrangements are in progress. He will be laid to rest in a village called Lubi along Hoima road,” UFPA CEO Paul Mukatabala is quoted on the federation’s website.
FUFA boss Eng. Moses Magogo has also sent his condolences to the family of the deceased. “In this sorrowful time, we would like to extend to the family of Ssenyonjo our heartfelt condolences. May our Lord comfort you and your loved ones in this trying time,” he said.
Born in 1974, Ssenyonjo played for several clubs in the country including Bell FC, Military FC, Express FC and SC Villa.
